Volunteers@work

Volunteer Program Preparations for the 2022 FISU Word University Championship Sport Climbing are going ahead at full speed – 90 students at the University of Innsbruck have the possibility to be part of the process.

In the summer term of 2022, the students at Innsbruck University had the unique opportunity to apply for a spot in an extraordinary and interdisciplinary elective. As part of the 2022 FISU Word University Championship Sport Climbing the students gain insight into the organisation of a major sport event and work as volunteers during the event week.

Starting in March the students first got introduced to the basics of event management and volunteering. In bi-weekly sessions the eighty-eight students from a wide variety of fields explored important topics like sustainability, inclusion, ethics and intercultural exchange and brainstormed ideas how to implement them into a sport event.

With just one month to go until the competition week the students started to work with lots of motivation in their chosen working areas like client services, general management, and sports. Besides preparing for these volunteer jobs, they are working on side events for the visiting student athletes to provide an all-round unforgettable experience in Innsbruck.

In the following weeks, the students will receive further training to guarantee a successful and exciting event week. Keep an eye out for more insights about volunteers@work on the official social media channels!
